Heathy hearts this Valentines Day: Cucumber Hearts from Doef’s Greenhouses

This Valentine’s Day, do something original, romantic AND healthy!  Doef’s Greenhouses out of Lacombe in Alberta, Canada, has come up with a brilliant way of growing cucumbers.  Heart shaped cucumbers.

Joe Doef explains that a plastic, heart-shaped mould is placed over the cucumber as it begins to grow. When sliced, the interior of the cucumber reveals a tiny, delicious heart shape.  Called Mini Heart cucumbers, the vegetables are exclusively grown at the Doef Greenhouses in Lacombe and are part of a line of produce called the Picky Gardener by Sunfresh Farms, which supplies major grocery stores in western Canada.
